Research

AI Researcher

Advance how AI understands complex, domain-specific environments, from genomic data to industrial systems.

About the role

You will work on the models and methods behind Pilliar’s systems: how they retrieve and reason over specialized data, how they act on real systems and how we measure that they do it reliably. Your research goes into products used in genetic research, industry and other demanding fields.

What you’ll do

  • Design and run experiments on retrieval, reasoning and agents over domain-specific data.
  • Adapt and evaluate foundation models for scientific, industrial and financial use cases.
  • Build evaluation sets and metrics that reflect real tasks, not only public benchmarks.
  • Turn research results into components the engineering team can ship.
  • Follow the literature and share what matters with the team.

What we’re looking for

  • A PhD or equivalent research experience in machine learning, natural language processing or a related field.
  • Strong Python and hands-on experience with PyTorch or JAX.
  • Experience with large language models: fine-tuning, retrieval, evaluation or agents.
  • Rigor in experimental design and the habit of questioning your own results.
  • Clear written communication.

Nice to have

  • Publications in peer-reviewed venues.
  • Experience with scientific, biological or time-series data.

Engineering

Software Engineer

Build the applications and integrations that bring AI into the systems organizations already run.

About the role

You will build Pilliar’s products and the integrations that connect them to customer environments: web and mobile applications, APIs, data pipelines and the infrastructure that keeps AI reliable in production.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build and maintain web, mobile and backend services.
  • Integrate language models and AI services into products, with attention to cost, latency and reliability.
  • Connect Pilliar’s systems to customer databases, documents and software.
  • Write tests, review code and improve the tools the team relies on.
  • Take features from design to production and follow them once they are live.

What we’re looking for

  • Several years of experience building and shipping production software.
  • Solid backend skills, for example with PHP and Laravel or a comparable stack.
  • Experience with a modern frontend framework such as Vue or React.
  • Good knowledge of SQL databases, APIs and queues.
  • Care for code quality, security and the people who will maintain your code.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Flutter or native mobile development.
  • Experience integrating language model APIs, streaming responses or retrieval systems.

Engineering

IoT Engineer

Connect AI to sensors, vehicles, machines and the networks that carry their data.

About the role

You will build the layer that connects Pilliar to the physical world: devices, gateways and data flows from fleets, industrial equipment and infrastructure, so that AI can analyze, anticipate and act where operations happen.

What you’ll do

  • Design and deploy data acquisition from sensors, controllers and vehicles.
  • Build secure, reliable pipelines from the edge to the cloud.
  • Work with industrial and IoT protocols such as MQTT, Modbus or OPC UA.
  • Run models at the edge when latency, cost or connectivity require it.
  • Monitor fleets of devices and manage updates in the field.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience shipping connected products or industrial IoT systems.
  • Good knowledge of embedded Linux, microcontrollers or edge gateways.
  • Programming skills in C, C++, Python or Rust.
  • Understanding of networking and device security.
  • Comfort working on site with operations teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with telematics, CAN bus or energy systems.
  • Experience with time-series databases and stream processing.

Mechatronics Engineer

Bring mechanics, electronics and software together to put AI into machines.

About the role

You will design and integrate the hardware that lets Pilliar’s systems sense and act: instrumented equipment, prototypes and test benches for industrial, mobility and energy environments.

What you’ll do

  • Design and prototype electromechanical systems, from sensors and actuators to control electronics.
  • Instrument existing machines to collect the data AI needs.
  • Develop and tune control software and its interfaces with higher-level systems.
  • Build test benches and validate systems in real operating conditions.
  • Document designs so they can be manufactured, installed and maintained.

What we’re looking for

  • A degree in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, CAD and electronics.
  • Programming skills for embedded or control systems in C, C++ or Python.
  • Knowledge of motors, sensors, PLCs or robotics.
  • A practical, safety-first approach to working with machines.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ROS or industrial automation.
  • Experience with machine vision.

Sales Executive

Open conversations with organizations where AI can make complex operations simpler.

About the role

You will introduce Pilliar to organizations in finance, industry, health, energy and mobility, understand their environments and build long-term relationships with the teams who run them.

What you’ll do

  • Identify and approach organizations where Pilliar can make a measurable difference.
  • Lead discovery conversations to understand systems, data and constraints.
  • Work with engineers to shape proposals that start from the customer’s existing systems.
  • Manage the pipeline from first meeting to signed agreement.
  • Bring market feedback back to the product and engineering teams.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience selling technology, software or services to organizations.
  • The ability to understand technical topics and explain them simply.
  • A track record of building trust with senior decision-makers.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Other languages are a plus.
  • Organization, persistence and honesty about what a product can and cannot do.

Nice to have

  • Experience in one of our sectors: finance, industry, health, energy or mobility.
  • Experience with long, consultative sales cycles.
